Jiu Jitsu Belts

Jiu Jitsu belts have some significant importance and ranks related to its color that defines different boards, general principles, and attributes of each belt level. Belts system differentiates the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from other martial arts forms. Ranks in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu only referred by belts colors.

Jiu Jitsu Belt Colors System

Many ranges in colors from white to black, pink to camouflage, blue to purple, green to yellow at the different level used by athletes. White, blue, brown, purple and black belt system has following progression for adults, while kids usually follow the white to yellow, orange to green. A green belt is being associated with some extra privileged kids under the age of sixteen. Every belt has five levels, one is clear belt and after that follow four strips which could be awarded to a different level of performance in tournament, behavior, knowledge, and time period of learning by the athlete.

Black belt is only certified by the SJJIF that promote learners to that specific level. An athlete must be nineteen years old to get the black belt and it is necessary to be affiliated with the SJJIF. Black belt has 7 levels followed by different degrees and one clear belt that is awarded by SJJIF according to some compulsory fulfilled conditions. Black belt confirmed the mastery of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu arts skilled by a proficient player.

The journey from White Belt to Black Belt

The learning process starts from a white belt in BJJ, where you need to set your plans towards progress to shape your body and make yourself ready to put in the game edges. The best time to learn how to control your ego and calm down your mental health that empowers your body and mind to play well with the consistent fighting role. Deep Understanding to acquire the basic knowledge of movement and techniques is a healthy way to approach the master skills step by step instead of being overwhelmed and get confused to lose the temperament.

Jiu-Jitsu is a big game like a marathon, so better to take a position at each degree and acquire familiarity with each level to be able to identify the guard position to develop as a natural athlete. 

The white belt helps to build mind level and learning to survive well. A lot of things need to acquire in attitude to have a basic understanding of the jiu-Jitsu, so it’s time to move to blue belt.

Blue Belt

BJJ Blue Belt represents the strength of familiar attitude towards the game and firm grasp of the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At this stage, you ready to engage in a game with strategic techniques to apply them in a balanced way according to your body type, strength, and physical capabilities, also keep an eye on your weaknesses. Discipline and determination count a lot to keep resistant at this level by developing skills to set the foundation and absorb all learning stamina to empower the body and mind. Try to avoid in a rush situation or behavior that relax your inner self and take your time.  It will result in you to sustain and grow the rest of your BJJ career. 

Purple Belt

At this BJJ stage, athletes are supposed to learn almost all the techniques set by curriculum up to black belt. Athletes need to put effort and time in the same way to get the command over skills that promoted to avail a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu that leads to black belt in other martial arts. Developing transitions from strategy to strategy and techniques to techniques smooth the set-ups in a very combinative style. This stage possesses the developing attitude to have awareness and recognition that help to reach the advanced level.

Brown Belt

This BJJ stage is a progression of black belt indeed in which the athlete has the capability of using the techniques in a wide variety. An athlete has a much deeper knowledge of BJJ, martial arts and expected to perform well in a complete form of Jiu-Jitsu fighter. After all developmental stages, here is a move to refine all techniques to beat the opponent rather than to learn more.

Black Belt

The highest rank in BJJ is to be here at the black belt with all super skills those are smoothed and trained well after trimming all rough edges in your techniques. And the difference is openly experienced between skills and mastery man well forms personality. In BJJ, it’s not an easy stage to take lightly or take for granted because either men or women both reach this level after having truly mastered skills of grappling. Black belt in Jiu-Jitsu represents a mastermind in itself that is being overwhelmed on the mat against the opponent. It takes a lot of efforts that are really the culmination of years and years of time being in practice, learning and training. Moreover, it’s not the ending point instead of a new start of the game where a BJJ athlete keeps on refining his game and also discovers ways to help their students to achieve a greater level of success.

Red Belt

The most rewarding and exciting stage in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is to be on the track of Black Belt which is arduous and long one. After this rank, BJJ practitioners awarded significant degree under six degrees according to achievement and then awarded a red belt.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also shapes your body stronger, leaner, smarter and greater ability to defend yourself in any situation and compete against the attack.
